(06m38s)

--How crucial are our brains to our overall wellbeing?

--How impotent is to care fore your heart? The same answer which is extremely. Because your brain controls actually many of your organs, it’s very much influenced by other organs. And of course, our brain is our mind in our cognition, in our thinking and our mood.

--Discovery / What if we could stay young forever? 1/3 BBC 2013/3/5

(08m45s)There are studies that show that the more active you are mentally, that it can, it is associated with lower risk for dementia. But whether it is associated with longevity just because you are exercising your brain, I’m, I don’t know any data that supports that.

(3)

(10m29s)So, the first organ to work on, if you want to live a long time, it’s your brain. And nobody cares about their brain because you can’t see it. So you can see the wrinkles in your skin and the fat around your belly, and you can do something when you don’t like them. But the brain is different.

(12m46s)He said I should eat a healthier diet, more fruits and vegetables, less bread, coffee and alcohol. I should take a range of supplements including multi-vitamins and fish oil, and melatonin to help me sleep. And to improve my coordination and tension I should take up table tennis. I followed his advice. After two months, I did feel more alert but I am not sure that it really reversed my age.

Doctor Amen charges his patients three and a half thousand dollars for these tests but it’s debatable whether they are all necessary when the advice is common sense: eat a balance diet, get plenty of sleep and exercise. Dr Amen’s critics argue that there is no scientific evidence the scans of this type can be used as a general screening procedure, and that all of his doing is cashing in on our fears about old age.

(15m49s) Then, the next thing you need to worry about is keeping the blood flowing in your brain. Why is, for example, as far as occupation is concerned, the longest live occupation is a symphony orchestra conductor? It turns out that they are always moving their arms as they are standing in front of the orchestra.

(16m54s)That combination of physical exercise, moving your arms and legs, not running a marathon but just walking every day, is so important toward longevity. It will show up in your statistics at a future time.
